Welcome to my Astros-centric world.
I’m a native Houstonian, who was raised to love the Astros by her obsessed Astros-fan mother. I am now trying to raise my 3 sons to be Astros fans; I am having much greater success with my niece who is determined to be the first female to play MLB. I admire her fortitude but fear the severe damage to her head from butting it into the brick wall of, um, uh, er, let’s say, rules (written and unwritten) which prohibit females from playing MLB…
I live with my wonderful Husband, who pretends to love baseball because he loves me, the children and my 3 Dogss, Barry Lamar Dog and Dog Pappas (yes, named after the late, great Doug Pappas) and Jana Brattain Dog (yes, named after the late, great writer, John Brattain) joined our family May 2, 2010.
I wrote “The Astros Dugout” at the now defunct mostvaluablenetwork.com (mvn.com) since June 1, 2004 (see archives) and began this blog upon mvn’s demise on December 14, 2009.
I contribute to www.thehardballtimes.com pre-season preview and write occasional articles for them as well.
I also spend waaaayyy too much time at the testosterone soaked pages of Primer, AKA www.baseballthinkfactory.org, enjoying the company of fellow baseball lovers of all sizes, ages, ethnicities, political beliefs and, in fact, I am so broad-minded that I even freely associate with the DH supporters.
If you want to understand human beings, you need to know baseball.
