I had watched 5 innings of Astros suckage – GIDPs, Castro making a throwing error (welcome back) and Galarraga hanging sliders twice and watching them fly over the wall – two 2-run homers.
I was juuust about to go do something else when Brandon, who has had his butt glued to the pine while Fernando Martinez, who absolutely sucks with bat and glove has been given endless playing time, don’t ask me why – hit the second pitch he saw from Samardjzia over the LF wall!!!
Fernando is wasted space – Barnes has a chance to do something besides suck. And the guy is a good fielder, too. What’s with all the Fernando hype? Even the Mets fans got over him right quick when he came up and looked lost at the ML level.
Here and Cubs fans are trying to insist that their team sucks worser than ours – honestly. I think we showed them that they don’t know the meaning of true suckage.
Best of all, the Rox are winning as I write this here little note, so we’ll widen the loss gap to 4 games.
Forgot – GET THIS – the Astros AAA club starting pitchers, featuring the likes of Brian Bass and Jake Buchanan is SOOO bad (now hit 10 straight losses) with ERAs over 6, that they have decided to put Fernando Abad back into the starting rotation. No I am NOT kidding. They are pointing out how great he was over a year ago as a starter in the Dominican winter league, forgetting how TERRIBLE he was as a starter in 2011 – actually, as a pitcher, period. Brain trust – uh hunh…

Cubs really stinking up the place. It’s Houston’s best offensive game in a VERY long time and of all things, FMartinez hit a three run homer just now.
Harrell is in line to win this one unless a disaster of Biblical proportions strikes, well maybe NOT quite so Biblical considering the shitty bullpen Astros have.
Still gratifying to see that the Astros still have some fight left in them.
I think Tyler Greene has provided the “spark” this team needed. He’s played in 5 games since he was traded here……..and HIT IN EVERY GAME!!
Retro night in Chicago. Reminded me of ’04. ’05.
bruce – or even 08 pre-ike
hard to believe it was just a few short years ago i made VERY sure i could get tix/free time for every stros home game and/or playoffs. i’m glad i did – those days are LONGGGG gone
tyler greene looks ok – i’d rather see him as the UT IF than marwin, sorry to say
Ironically, I’ve been out to the park this year more times than any in recent memory. Unfortunately you end up sitting surrounded by people cheering for the opponent, without a critical mass to support the home crowd. More than once my family was the only one near-by standing to cheer an Astro home run. Really discouraging in the 9th if they are actually winning and the crowd is supporting the batter, not the struggling pitcher.
Of course, the management will take the money, so will encourage it, like giving out Nolan Ryan bobble-heads when the Rangers are in town.
Looking forward to reading your take on the change at the helm. I also saw that the hitting coach was fired. Hitting coach? I thought. They have a hitting coach?? (Rim shot.)
Whoever worked with Brett Wallace in the minors should be the new hitting coach. But…wait. That would make sense. Forget I suggested it…
Sorry…forgot to enter my name. That was me. (Not that it really matters, just that “Anonymous” is kind of weenie.)

it’s called re-arranging desk chairs on the Titanic. the players aren’t much – mostly AAAA guys – you win with those at AAA, you lose with those in MLB. There are very few managers who have any sort of control or power. more like kindergarten teachers who get little kids to play nice and don’t fight and lineup nice and straight and is your uniform on right?
also, i do have a few actual “anns” around here who don’t want their names posted – don’t want to be outed neither…
Not me!
