7/3/12: Ex-Stro Drew Sutton Hits Walk Off To Beat The Team That Didn’t Want Him

At least the Astros HIT the ball tonight – and against AJ Burnett, too. Everone in the lineup, including Lucas Harrell, who went 2 fer 3 (2 bunt hits) except Julio Daniel Martinez got at least 1 hit.

But the Astros lost anyway.

Trouble is that there is too much suckage in the bullpen. Harrell was pulled with bases loaded no outs, ahead 6-2 in the 6th, Froddy came in and let all 3 runs score. Froddy is simply terrible – needs to go on the DL, go to AAA, SOMETHING. But he sure isn’t the right guy to bring in in a high leverage situation. Then again, since Wilton Lopez is out, there really isn’t ANY guy to bring in in a high leverage situation.

Brandon Lyon gave up the go-ahead 2 run homer in the 7th. He’s looked awful too and the pitch that Garrett Jones hit out was right down the middle.

Top of the 9th, Lowrie walked, then Jason Castro hit a double into the RF corner to tie the game and hand Joel Hanrahan his 3rd BS, but Wesley Wright hung a curve to Drew Sutton and it would have been an out on the Hill – or a triple – but in Pittsburgh, it left the park and there you go.

Pittsburgh sent down former highly pimped tradee Jose Tabata and they’re keeping Drew Sutton. Not that I blame them, but he’d better hit against teams other than the Astros. Not sure why the Rays DFAd him earlier this year, because he was hitting better than most guys on that team, but hey, it’s their loss.

Oh yeah – speaking of Ex-Stros, Roy Oswalt pitched the worst game of his major league career tonight – 11 runs/9 ER – 13 hits, 4 BB, 3 HR over 4.2 IP – and this to the White Sox, too.

Also Michael Bourn has a better shot to get voted to the ASG now that Chipper Jones was selected to replaced Matt Kemp. Wonder if he’s gonna pull a Cal Ripken – it would be very kewl. Chipper should get elected first ballot seeing as how he’s been declared as A Clean Guy based on his not hitting too many home runs. No that can’t be it because Jim Thome hit too many home runs too. No ends of prejudice out there…

And happy 4th of July all yall. Going to have the TV on – checking it over the sound of music pumping, kids laughing, BBQ sizzling. Then we all takin the kidz downtown to watch the fireworks. No matter how old and wiseass they get, they still love the fireworks as much as we do. Fireworks ROOL. Let freedom ring.

    Love your blog.

Carlos not so dumb. If the Dodgers were going to paying $3 million per month for him, that is a lot more pressure on him than the Marlins are getting him for peanuts, with the Astros in his rear-view mirror picking up most of the tab. I predict he thrives.
