Jordan was fine the first time through the lineup. Then, to be nice about it, he got the heck kicked out of him. He gave up 6 runs, couldn’t get an out in the 5th, left one on and Rhiner Cruz let his run score. I mean, I could go on, but what for? He only got a couple of swing n misses, and either his stuff didn’t have movement or they could see it well out of his hand, because they laid off bout everything not in the zone and killed everything that was.
Astros got an unusual number of walks for Astros, that is, but except for Jose Altuve in the first, did nothing because of suckulence and grounding into DPs. Looks like the old Miggy Tejada days.
Swept by the Cubs and shutout TWICE, and I suppose I should at least be glad they managed the 5 hits they did. Chris Johnson is out with a lat strain. He ain’t hittin with no lat strain, but naturally they won’t put him on the DL.
And I told all yall LONG before the official announcement that Carlos Lee wasn’t goin to no Dodgers. I don’t know, but I would bet that the teams he’d agree to be traded to are all ones that do not want to take on any salary or just do not need a 1B/DH.
Tomorrow, it’s Lucas Harrell facing AJ Burnett, who is actually having the best year of his career – had exactly ONE bad outing, was left in to give up 12 ER over 2.2 IP – the rest of his outings, he’s given up 3 or fewer runs/GS and is averaging 6.2 IP/GS.
Lucas has had only 5 QS over his 16 GS, and he’s only gone 6 or more innings 8 times, but 2 of those were his last 2 starts and hopefully, he can keep it up against this Pirates team that has picked it up over the past month and is looking like the team that won in the first half last year.
Astros appear to be making their way up the ladder to the #1 pick in the 2013 draft – only 2 teams left to pass, the Cubs and the Pads, who both just kicked the Astros.
By the way, did you notice ex-Stro Drew Sutton? Remember him – traded for Jeff Keppinger a couple years back. He’s done pretty well in the few ABs he’s had every year in the minors – a lifetime .730 OPS, and he’s 4 fer 6 against the Astros. You’d think he had a grudge, but actually, he wouldn’t nevah have had a chance to play on those veterans only teams. I would have thought he would have gotten more chance to play with the Red Sox last year – he was one of their best hitters the few times they let him play. Of course, they wouldn’t let Daniel Nava or Josh Reddick play much neither…
Daniel Nava – another small guy who kills the ball. You know how there is “Out” magazine for gays? I sure would like to see “Short” magazine – ballplayers could short themselves as Jose Altuve did – Hi, I’m Jose Altuve – I’m 5-5, I’m proud and I’m a damm good ballplayer.
Hi, I’m David Eckstein – I’m 5-6 (which is what he SAID, not what the records say) and I’m proud and was a damm good ballplayer.
Of course, the one I’d REALLY like is – Hi, I’m Craig Biggio and I’m 5-8 1/2 after really stretching, and I’m relieved now that I’ve shorted myself. I’m proud and I was a Hall of Fame ballplayer along with my pal, first baseman, Jeff Bagwell, who is now here to short himself too…
