This was, what, the 5th no-hitter this year? Second Perfect Game.
I should complain about Ted Barrett’s enormous strike zone, but that would sound like me being a sore loser.
I have seen, I think, 6 no hitters from start to finish, not including, unfortunately, Mike Scott’s.
Man, I had a feeling when couldn’t nobody hit any pitch squarely – except Chris Snyder, in the 6th, who came about 5 feet from hitting the ball off or over the LF wall. And when Jordan Schafer’s sure double gapper got caught, I was reminded of Jim Edmonds making that impossible catch on Brad Ausmus’ sure fire game winning double to right center.
11 K in the first 6 innings and I was thinkin about the Kerry Wood game back in 98. Yes, I swear I remember seeing it, although you know how memories are. But he ended up with just 14 Ks.
Matt Cain has always been a really good and extremely underrated pitcher because he has usually had terrible run support.
