He was pulled after 5 innings for Jason Michaels – he’s going to the Phillies – I’m shocked, SHOCKED.
So far, it’s 3 A ball guys and a PTBNL. “TOP” prospects (cheap) including Zack Cosart, Jonathan Singleton and Josh Zeid. I was kind of surprised that Domonic Brown wasn’t included – but he makes Clank look like Michael Bourn out there. Wonder if these A ball “top prospects” are any better than Astros “top” prospects Mier, Villar and DeShields – who, by the way, are awful.
I like how the Chron guys are saying stuff like how they think those A ball guys will be in the majors next year. Putting a baseball players on a major league field doesn’t make them major league quality players (see Jason Smith). Promoting guys who don’t deserve promotions and can’t hit low A pitching doesn’t prove that your minor league system is getting better.
Not sure who will go next, Bourn, Barmes, Wandy or Myers, but hey we lost with em and we can lose without em as the old saying goes.
I wish Hunter the best in Philly – hopefully, he’ll win a Ring there – goodness knows Ed Wade’s done his best to keep Philly at the top of the NL since he’s come to Houston. And they didn’t even have to pay him.
Poor Jordan Lyles pitched 6 good innings, giving up only 2 runs – was pulled after 6 innings/78 pitches – not sure why.
Bet he wished it was him going to Philly. And Sanchez is an awful defensive third baseman.

Was paying attention to this all day at work on my phone, got off in time to see him sent off the field. Very sad.. but very necessary. He’ll be missed and I hope he has gobs of success in Philly.
Ed Wade (I’m hearing) is fearing he might get hurt by the fans here in Houston.
I have Shawn Chacon’s phone# on my cell, and I’m gonna call him tonight!
Back to reality……..this was a bad trade. Wade had to send a million $$$ to
the Phillies, and we get 4 A ball players. WOW…….I’m just astounded. Becky
becky,
cmon there grrrl, you didn’t expect GOOD trade for the astros now, did you? we paid 1 mill for 4 A ball guys. and philly gets a good solid, reasonable cost major leaguer. ed wade has done a terrible job overall for the astros – but great for the phils, that’s fer SHER…
Common theme on FB and Twitter ………. when did Houston become a Triple A affiliate of the Phillies?
For what its worth, in my fantasy league, we do a mid-season minor league draft and come up with a list of 15-20 top NL prospects. Both Cosart and Singleton were on my list.
Here is a combined AL-NL list. These guys rank pretty well.

Singleton hitting .429 with two homers last 10 games.

charlie,
when ed wade became GM. it’s like the Golden Age when the Kansas City A’s were the Yankees’ de facto farm club
bruce,
they are in A ball. they are in A ball. IF they ever hit higher level pitching, that will be one thing. just take a look at how many A ball guys killed A ball pitching and couldn’t sniff even AAA. i don’t CARE where they are on a prosepct list because the people who put those lists up care about “potential” and seems to me that pretty much that is judged by what round they were drafted in and how young they are
one more time – they are in A ball
this means they won’t help the astros this year or next. we NEEDED guys who can play in the majors this year or next because we have ZERO in AAA and our “top prospects” are “athletic” – big deal, so is my niece and she won’t be doin nothin for the team neither
I’ll bet they are both on the Astros next year.
Is next year rushing them? Heck, yeah. But, for better or worse, AA to start the year, and up in July.
I don’t think we NEED guys to play in the majors this year at all, what’s the point? Shouldn’t compromise the future just to suck a little less this year.
“Is next year rushing them? Heck, yeah. But, for better or worse, AA to start the year, and up in July.”
– What would be the point of this? The Astros are likely to lose 100 games (again) next year.
well, cosart’s elbow – or is it shoulder – is hurting him and singleton isn’t hitting well at A ball. They have to have actual bodies on the field and ed wade wants to prove what a supa trader he is, so they may be here. then again, if drayton is gone, ed wade may not be here neither
I actually like this trade. I know that Single-A is a long way from the majors and it’s a gamble, but these two are considered top prospects by every expert in the country. ACTUALLY top prospects (top 50 or top 25, depending on the list you’re looking at), not just top in the organization like the Astros’ guys. Not worried about Cosart’s injury, that was last year and they shut him down to keep it from getting worse. And Singleton was hitting really well until they shifted positions and tried to get him to change something with his swing. His numbers are going back up.
I think it was a good deal, even if pretty risky. The funny thing to me is the people saying the Astros dealt their best player because they’re obsessed with HRs, BA and RBIs. If you look at other stats like WAR, Pence was their third or fourth best player, after Bourn and Wandy. He was a good player, but like me, I know you never bought into Pence mania. I just think it’s funny to see what Astros fans think he should have brought in. I actually like this trade, MUCH better than the Oswalt and Berkman trades last year.
These guys we got from Philly for Hunter are 2-3-4 years out at best,,,we are gonna suck for a while guys,, what does next years team look like? Think about it,,Lyes , Norris, Meyers, Wandy,,Johnson at 3rd, Barmes another year at SS, Altuve at 2 nd, Wallace, Lee at 1st, Bourne Center, …there has been no impact to the MLB level team, ,,Crane is gonna work up the farm teams and develop talent,,,2 – 3- 4 years away from anything in Houston, and as we are MLB “red headed step child” we will probably go to the AL …We will get KILLED in the AL..
as usual you are dead wrong austin
